Training and qualifications

Most physiotherapists undergo a 3 or 4 year undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy; this course is run by several universities and included placements in a clinical setting as well as academic work. Most courses require 3 good A-level results as well as minimum grade c GCSE maths and English. Usually A-levels should be science-based and many courses specify a minimum grade requirement for biology. Competition for places is often considerable.

Some people go on to follow a postgraduate Master’s degree in Physiotherapy; this usually takes a year to complete. There are also opportunities to follow an accelerated course for those who have qualifications in related subjects such as osteopathy and medicine.
